July 8th – O’hAnleigh—Tunes of the Emerald Isle

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingThe Middlebury, Vermont trio, O’hAnleigh, draws on their ancestral roots and diverse musical talent to entertain audiences with the lively and haunting rhythms of Irish and Irish American culture.  The band has developed a diverse and unique sound, playing everything from haunting ballads to Irish folk and rollicking pub songs; Irish-American tin pan alley tunes, songs of rebellion, and traditional Celtic sets. This sound stems from their vocal talents Becca Hanley's haunting soprano, Cindy Hill's smooth alto, and Tom Hanley's baritone, either as soloists or harmonizing. Supporting their vocals are the instruments they play 6 and 12-string guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, bass, fiddle, tenor banjo, penny whistles, harmonica, bowed psaltry, dulcimer, autoharp, bodhráns, bones, spoons, and a variety of other small percussion instruments, many home-made and styled for particular songs.

July 15th – Dave Ruch, Music of Old New York

Singer and multi-instrumentalist with over 24 years experience playing acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin, banjo, dulcimer, bass guitar, washtub bass, jawharp, and more, Dave Ruch presents a program full of traditional and historical songs and related lore from Old New York.

When we think of old-time ballads and songs handed down from generation to generation, we might think of places like Kentucky, or North Carolina, or the Ozark Mountains.......did you know we’ve got them right here in the Empire State, too? For this special concert, Ruch presents, and tells the stories behind, the songs of real-life “Yorkers” from days gone by - - farmers, lumbermen, children, lake sailors, canallers and more - - collected through considerable research and interpreted for all to enjoy with guitar, 5-string banjo, jaw harp and more!

July 22nd – Rick Rourke & Lost Wages

Lost Wages in action...!!

The Lost Wages band was formed out of a need to get songs with more personal, more political and with a deeper social connection to what's going on heard.  This live band performance will take the listener down different paths with sax, violin, harmonica and a chunky rhythm section to lead the way. As the world has become more complex, corporate and regimented with radio airplay confined to the same 200 classic songs, Rick Rourke finds himself digging even deeper for well crafted, honest and fresh inspiration for the Lost Wages project.

Rick Rourke, contributing vocals, sax, violin and harp, is joined by Craig Thaler – violin, Larry Clyman – guitar, Leo Kachidurian - drums and vocals, and Lucas Ruedy – bass.

July 29th - Too Human

Edgy, blues/jazz influenced contemporary folk

Whether performing breezy, jazzy, toe-tapping swing, a bluesy heartfelt ballad, or a familiar standard, Too Human will move you with their music.  With guitar, percussion, harmonica, and vocals, they have a jazzy/bluesy feel with a lot of heart.  Their original songs touch on topics related to the human condition.  Ellen's earthy voice combines perfectly with Roger's unusual percussion style and sweet vocals.  With high quality musicianship, humor, and passion, totally in sync with each other, they create a strong and intimate atmosphere.

They bring spirit and spontaneity to their performance, even writing songs on the spot utilizing audience members as their subject matter.  Songs they have written have been performed by Cher, Pat Benatar, Teddy Pendergrass, Anne Murray, and Nancy Wilson.  As performers, Too Human has opened for and shared the stage with many well known acts.

Too Human performs steadily at schools, coffeehouses, clubs, and concerts, and in outdoor venues.  Their CD, True, is getting airplay all over the country, and "New Surrender," one of the tracks from it, was chosen to be included on the second compilation CD release from the Garland Appeal, Familiar Mysteries.  (The Garland Appeal was established with support from Paul McCartney to honor the memory of Linda.)

August 5th – P’s & Q’s, Barbershop Harmony

One evening in the fall of 2000, Brooke and Chuck Packevicz and Linda and John Quesnel experimented with putting two male and two female voices together and found that it resulted in a remarkably exciting sound.  This was the beginning of “P’s & Q’s”.

P's & Q's - A Mixed Barbershop QuartetThe P’s & Q’s collectively have more than 120 years of Barbershop singing experience.  Among their many individual accomplishments are numerous quartet and chorus championships, International contest appearances, chorus directing, coaching, and a fifth place International quartet medal.

At various times during the year, The P’s & Q’s reside in Rhode Island, Cape Cod, New York and Florida.  They have entertained audiences from New England to Florida, and are featured in a guest performance on the recently-released Coastline Show Chorus CD.  P’s & Q’s hope you will enjoy their unique style of Barbershop harmony.
